“Art changes people.
Together we can change the world.”
These are the words at the end of a short movie, created by artist Daniel Dancer. With the help of almost 5000 students from 21 schools in the Netherlands he created a beautiful image: a windmill as a symbol for the need for renewable energies, and for the need to do whatever we can to reach a global CO2 concentration less than 350 ppm as quickly is possible. Check out their video on vimeo – and I dare you not to cry.
This art work is part of a global initiative that raises awareness on the need for an effective global climate treaty in Copenhagen. To show their support for a 350 guardrail, people across all nations are organizing 350 events for the global day of climate action on October 24. So far more than 1600 events are planned in more than 130 countries.
Do you want to participate? Then check out 350.org to find an event near you. Or organize your own event. It is fun and it is very worthwhile. Because this day is one of the few times during which we can stand up as one world to demonstrate our support for a goal that will give us a true chance of avoiding a global catastrophe. Together we WILL change the world!
